 自閉癥的歷史與概念 “自閉癥”（或稱“孤獨癥”）自古就有，但在很長的歷史中卻是不為人知的一種疾病。直至1943年，美國精神病醫生利奧 凱納（Leo Kenner）教授首先提出并確定了“自閉癥”的概念。 “自閉癥”和“孤獨癥”同為英文Autism(源于希臘語“Auter”——自我)一詞的譯名。在精神病學中，該詞意為“退縮與自我專注”；在描述“自閉癥”突出特征時，該詞意義“自我興趣”。 “自閉癥”為臺灣、香港、日本、新加坡、馬來亞等國家與地區的使用詞?！肮陋毎Y”為中國大陸地區醫學界，特教界的使用詞。 “自閉癥”是一種嚴重的身心發育障礙的疾病。1978年美國國立自閉癥兒童及成人協會專家顧問委員會對自閉癥提出定義為：“起病于30月前的行為綜合癥。其主要特征有： (1)發育秩序和速度紊亂； (2)對任何感覺刺激的反應異常； (3)言語、語言、認知和非語言的溝通障礙； (4)與人、事和物建立起合適關系的能力障礙?！?這些定義為至今廣泛應用國際疾病分類第九版（ICD-9）和它的臨床修訂版（ICD-9-Cm）以及美國精神障礙診斷和統計手冊第三版（DSM-3）診斷標準建立奠定了基礎。
