巨顱是孤獨癥一個獨立的臨床特征

     據十二月的《美國醫學遺傳學雜志》報道，孤獨癥的一個獨立的“基本”屬性是巨顱，而并非小顱或形態學異常。

    密蘇里哥倫比亞大學的朱迪斯·H·邁爾斯博士等推測：“對目前尚未發現的孤獨癥基因來講，巨顱可作為一種很有用的表型標記?！?/p>

    邁爾斯博士小組對137名特發性孤獨癥患兒的頭圍及疾病的其它屬性進行了測定。他們根據病人的頭圍大小將其分為三組，即巨顱組、正常頭圍組和小顱組，并對三組患兒的其它特點進行了研究。

    7.3%的患兒有小顱，且與患者的其它特點相關聯，包括IQ低下、形態異常、抽搐以及預后較差。除了性別比和同胞復發率以外，形態異常也與很多特性獨立相關。

    另一方面，23%的患兒有巨顱，但“并不能以此劃分一個獨特的孤獨癥亞型”。換句話說，巨顱是已發現的唯一與孤獨癥診斷獨立相關的軀體特征。

    巨顱也表現出一定的遺傳性，因為有巨顱的孤獨癥患者中，45%有一個巨顱的父母。而且，37%的正常頭圍孤獨癥患兒也有一個巨顱父母，提示某種導致巨顱的基因也會升高患孤獨癥的危險。

    邁爾斯博士小組相信，這項新發現為尋找至今仍不清楚的孤獨癥基因提供了方向。 (WESTPORT，12月27日)
