    有這么一群特殊的孩子，他們把自己封閉在自己的世界里“自我”地成長，外部世界對他們來說是虛無的，他們不理會任何人，他們無法與人正常交流，包括他們的父母。在醫學上他們被稱之為自閉癥，也稱為孤獨癥。

    自閉癥的孩子及家庭是一個被大家忽視的群體，《半邊天》欄目將走近他們，真正全面地了解自閉癥，了解各種類型以及患病各種程度的孩子、各種境遇的家庭會遇到哪些困難，這些家庭和孩子將來要面對什么，他們壓力和心理狀態如何，我們的社會將會給他們怎樣的生存空間。同時社會如何在教育、就業和安置等問題上來為這個群體提供資源。
