埃爾斯發起成立“埃爾斯自閉癥基金會”

　　美巡賽明星球員厄尼·埃爾斯于12月29日被提名為“全世界最樂觀積極的五大運動員”之一，該獎項由美國的多家非政府組織投票選出，其中包括國際扶輪社、和平小徑協會和姊妹城市國際協會等。

　　埃爾斯參與入圍的職業運動員協會的NGO積極和平獎，這個獎被看做是21世紀的“諾貝爾和平獎”，授予從全世界的個人、商界、運動員、運動團隊、演藝人員和學校中選拔出來的有積極貢獻的人選。匹茲堡鋼人橄欖球隊的海恩斯·沃德在今年贏得了該獎。

　　埃爾斯之所以被提名是因為他為慈善事業做出了很多貢獻，特別是在拯救自閉癥患者委員會中還做了很多義工的工作。埃爾斯的兒子本不幸罹患自閉癥，所以埃爾斯從此便把幫助自閉癥作為自己比賽間歇的必做工作，還發起成立了埃爾斯自閉癥基金會以幫助更多的自閉癥患者。

　　“他的開明和支持使得許多其他孩子的家長也開始以正確的方式來看待和學會讓孩子接受正確的治療。”自閉癥發現及治療協會的副主席當娜·馬納諾說，“厄尼的加入幫助我們更好的宣傳讓大家意識到自閉癥的嚴重性，也給了家長們希望。”
