食品添加劑與過動癥的關聯

研究人員長期以來一直懷疑食品的處理過程與過動之間的關系，但是，并沒有得到研究委員會完全支持這項理論－－直到現在．

在一項由英國 Southampton 大學所主持 1,873位均是三歲的孩童所參與的研究計劃中，我們得到一項答案．首先，在一個星期中，禁止這些孩童服用任何添加有食物色素和苯(甲)酸鹽防腐劑的食品．在接著的三個星期，研究人員將一千多位參與的孩子分成三個小組，分別的給予含有高色素的食物、含有苯(甲)酸鹽防腐劑的食品、或是含有安慰劑的食物．

家長們在交回的報告中都提到在研究計劃開始的第一個星期，就是不讓孩子服用任何添加有食物色素和苯(甲)酸鹽防腐劑的食品的那一周，孩子的過動狀況有明顯的改善．在接下來的三星期的實驗中，也就是開始讓孩子服用各類添加物的食品后，孩子的過動狀況明顯的變糟，但是給予含有安慰劑的食物的那一組孩子的過動狀況比較沒有那么糟糕．

這項研究結果更加證實了一件事情，過動兒服用添加有食物色素和苯(甲)酸鹽防腐劑的食品，會對他們的過動癥狀有非常大的影響．英國 Southampton 大學將繼續這項研究，將研究對象由三歲過動兒改為四到九歲的孩子，以客觀的觀察，繼續食品添加劑與過動癥的關聯這方面的研究．
