智能受損新生兒 有藥可醫

    高雄長庚醫院研究發現用來治療巴金森癥的多巴胺藥劑，因為能刺激增強大腦神經與神經交界突觸的傳遞功能，也可用來治療改善因缺氧等導致智能受損的新生兒，改善他們的智能。


    這項「老藥新用」主要研究者為長庚大學臨床醫學研究所教授楊生湳與高雄長庚醫院腦神經科主任黃立同，研究結果將于近日刊登在美國神經醫學雜志，雖然迄今只完成動物實驗，但已獲神經醫學界給予「為新生兒腦病變開啟一扇機會之窗」等高度肯定。


    楊生湳說，這項研究原來是要用來改善老年人中風后的智能受損情形，并已經由分子生物實驗成功，但等到用在成鼠（注射藥物使之中風）治療時卻發現效果很差，再經多年研究才發現原來是因老年人的突觸結構已在衰退中，即使再使用多巴胺，效果也很有限。


    他表示，這項研究利用大腦突觸結構約在12歲走下坡前，，用于因難產造成腦部缺氧（包括出生時臍帶繞頸等問題）、染色體異常、母體感染等，導致智力受損的新生兒，因其突觸結構還在持續增強狀態，此時給予多巴胺藥劑治療，將可以治療改善其腦部受損情形。


    楊生湳并表示，過去都以為改善或提升智力表現應在于增強大腦神經細胞，但由研究結果卻顯示，應在于突觸結構功能的增強與否，因此他也要吁請家有12歲以下孩子的家長，若能在此階段多給予孩子各種文化刺激，將有助于提升學習功能。


    黃立同則表示，多巴胺普遍存在于大腦神經細胞里，與一個人的運動、智能發展好壞有關，而巴金森癥患者均因多巴胺分泌不足所引起，這項研究在于利用多巴胺藥劑刺激神經細胞多巴胺的受體產生一連串的訊息變化，進而增強突觸結構功能，把原受損的大腦細胞扭轉、或者說恢復到正常狀態。
